Wren Beaumont possesses many qualities.
Beauty.
Intelligence.
Kindness.
Innocence.
At Lancaster Prep, she is adored by the girls, and everyone desires her friendship. However, I perceive Wren differently from the rest.
I see her as someone who keeps her emotions tightly restrained, like a repressed and innocent soul on the verge of bursting. She seems to believe she is superior to all of us, even me.
Normally, I wouldn’t be attracted to someone like her, as she is not my usual type.
But circumstances force us to collaborate in class, and during this time, we discover unexpected commonalities. As we spend more time together, I become utterly fixated on her. My infatuation drives me to do anything to make her fall in love with me.
Absolutely anything.
Whit Lancaster stormed into my life with the force of a tempest—dark, thunderous, furious, and fierce. Cold and heartless, yet devastatingly beautiful, much like the statues adorning our prep school gardens, the very institution bearing his family name on the entrance sign. In this realm, he can do no wrong; it’s his domain.
A campus menace, he elicits both adoration and fear, coupled with a mixture of hatred and respect. His taunts cut into me, carving words that shred my very being. Yet, beneath his piercing gaze, a longing stirs within me, a desire I struggle to comprehend.
One night, I chance upon him in a vulnerable state—broken and bleeding. Despite my instincts urging me to leave him to his suffering, I can’t resist. I clandestinely bring him into my room, tend to his wounds, fall for his deceits, and let him claim every part of me until I’m left gasping and broken.
As he departs in the dead of night, he steals away with my journal, now privy to all my secrets—my hatred, my truth. He vows to wield my words against me, promising my ruin should my darkest secret be exposed.
Faced with this threat, I decide to strike a bargain with the devil.
