Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez
In their youth, Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza fell in passionate love. Florentino is heartbroken when Fermina decides to marry a wealthy and famous doctor, but he is a romantic. Although he spends years working on his 622 jobs while building his business career, he still retains his heart for Fermina. Her husband eventually dies, and Florentino specially attends the funeral. Fifty years, nine months, and four days have passed since he first confessed his love to Fermina, and he would do so again.
